I was tasked to develop the visual direction and design the artwork for "Gold", an educational video in a museum installation that explores the origins of the world's most widely-known gemstone.
To convey a sense of gravitas and timelessness that we usually associate with the universe, we experimented with semi-photorealism 3D objects, coupled with 2D visual accents such as halftones and hand drawn textured brush strokes. A limited color palette was used so that we can effectively bring out the luminescence of our main subject--gold.
Much of the nspiration for the look came from Gustav Klimt's art and how he uniquely integrated the physical element of gold in his paintings.
